Size of 1965 Class: We started out with over 500 in our class our freshman year, but there were only 479 in our class that year, the largest class ever recorded in Madison Heights history.

Our Pirate Band - At the beginning of our Junior year, our great band won first-place at the Indiana State Fair. At the beginning of our Senior year, our band won second-place, missing another first-place by only one point.

Our class had two National Merit Scholarship finalists, Sue Elsten and Doug Sparks.

Our MHHS Football Team was undefeated. MHHS finished its first perfect football season with a 10-0 record and was ranked 10th in the state.

Our MHHS Baseball Team won the league championship in the Mid-Central Baseball League.

Our MHHS Cross Country Team raced to it's first Sectional Championship in school history.

Our MHHS Pirate Basketball Team beat the Anderson Indians for the major upset of the season with a score of 64-61.

The theme for sectional week was "Pirates Climb at Tourney Time".

Charlie Huston won First Place in the state in the shot put and was awarded the "Outstanding Athlete Award".

"You Can't Take It With You" was chosen for the Senior Class play.

Our school had many wonderful organizations which helped us to prepare for and aspire to our future goals. Some of these organizations included Honor Society, Student Council, Caduceus Club, Thespians, Future Teachers, American Field Service, Service Club, Secretaries Club, Quill and Scroll, Debate Club, "M" Club, Pep Club, Choir, Band, the Jolly Roger, and the Treasure Chest.

MHHS formed a Debate Club.

In our junior year, The Honor Society took a three-day trip to St. Louis and visited the zoo, Gas Light Square, the Climatron, and the Planetarium. They also went to see a movie in the Cinerama. Does anyone remember which movie was seen? Was it "The Great Race"?

And, out of 479 students, 210 boys and 269 girls, 416 members of the 1965 Senior Class graduated in the spring of 1965.
