The Butes Family "Words To Live By"...
"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming,
"WOW---WHAT A RIDE!!!""

In October of 2004, Kathy Bute wrote...

Although Kathy moved and attended Anderson High School her senior year, she still considers herself a pirate and a member of the MHHS Class of 1965.

Gary served in the U.S. Army from 1966 - 1969, served in Vietnam and worked in communications.

He re-inlisted in the U.S. Army in 1981 at age 35. (Gary scored a perfect 300 on his PFT after being excluded from going through basic training for a second time. He was an award winning body builder at the time.) They were lucky enough to be stationed in Hawaii and Colorado Springs. Gary as injured while on active duty in Colorado and was medically retired in 1989 while living in Texas. The Army had to set him up for rehabilitation and Gary picked leather work, which turned into a full time hobby. Gary has been a custom saddle maker for the past 15 years.

Gary and Kathy moved back to Indiana in 1989 and have lived in Alexandria since then. They have pretty much retired now. They have four (4) children, five (5) grandchildren, five (5) grandcats, and one (1) granddog. They are also blessed to still have Gary's mother, Maurine, with them. The family celebrated her 91st birthday in August of 2004.
